With a background in photography, Richard cut his teeth making music documentaries before moving into promos, tv, music videos, commercials, short films and scripted television.
Richard directed four seasons of the award winning and critically acclaimed comedy series, Crackanory, directing over 40 stories, Crackanory was written by some of comedy’s most ingenious writers and starred a great ensemble of actors, celebrities and performers.
Also comedy wise he directed the Sam Simmonsmini series “Wallstud” for Channel 4 and the taster ep of 'Murder In Successville', which was commissioned by BBC3 and went on to win a BAFTA.
Further comedy credentials were earned by directing the Sky Comedy Short ’The Rug' for MERMAN with executive producer Sharon Horgan.
His short film ‘No Ball Games’ had a great festival run including Clermont Ferrand, Cannes SFC, Raindance, East End FF, Aesthetica, Razorreel, & Fantastisk, after which it gained a cinema release then picked up for distribution by Origine. It is now on Vimeo demand and Amazon.
Richard has made branded films/content/commercials for FORD, SONY, ADIDAS, PEPSI, TESCO, EUROSTAR, HIVE, GREY GOOSE, NotOnTheHighStreet, SUGRU, Carlsberg and the BBC to include a few.
Richard has also worked as creative director for comic relief, commissioning a series of short films for the 1Goal Education for all campaign 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP
